ASTM A420 WPL6 Elbow is a low temperature carbon steel elbow that is used in applications with low operating temperatures. The A420 specification covers carbon steels and alloy steels for low temperature services. The LTCS Elbow Material has carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, copper, cobalt and vanadium in the composition. The SA 420 WPL6 Elbow is used to change a pipe line direction in a desired angle. There are different types of elbows that can change the directions in different angles. The WPL6 90 degree short radius Elbow has a short radius with a 90 degree angle of the turn.
ASTM A420 WPL6 Elbow
The radius is measured in relation with the outer diameter of the pipes. The Low Temperature Carbon Steel Elbow can be made up of different WPL graces. Out of the different grades available, the ASTM A420 WPL6 Elbow is the most used one. It has 240MPa minimum yield strength and 655MPa minimum tensile strength. The applications of the A420 wpl6 45 Degree Elbow can be seen in the low temperature components of pressure vessels, boilers, heat exchangers and in super heater elements. The 45 degree angle elbow is less common than the 90 degree angle elbow.
The LTCS WPL6 Short radius Elbow makes the turn quicker than a long radius elbow. The low pressure lines can use this kind of elbow without high pressure excerption to the pipe walls. The ASME SA420 WPL6 Long Radius Elbow has a longer radius. The longer radius makes sure that the pressure and impact momentum are distributed evenly over the length of the elbow onto the pipe wall.
